Corsicana Animal Adoption Center Construction Approved Up to $3.7 Million
The council authorized the city manager to execute contracts for the construction of the Corsicana Animal Adoption Center, with an amount not to exceed $3.7 million. The project has undergone value engineering to reduce costs from an initial estimate of $5 million down to $3.3 million for construction, with additional fees for the construction manager at risk. The project is expected to take approximately eight months.
City Approves Settlement with Dallas for $1.4 Million
The council approved a settlement agreement with the city of Dallas regarding a lawsuit initiated in 2006 concerning tax abatement and interference. The city of Dallas offered $1.4 million as a settlement, which was advised for acceptance. The funds will be split proportionally with the county and college based on tax abatement benefits.
Fire Training Field Construction Approved
The council approved authorizing the city manager to award a bid for constructing the fire training field to JAAY Concrete Paving Inc. for an amount not to exceed $157,208.30. The project is expected to be completed within five weeks of the bid award.
