Village Addresses Storm Debris Removal and Water System Performance Following Recent Storms

Village Manager Baer provided an update on the recent storm event, noting difficulties with ComEd power outages and storm debris. Public Works has been proactive in tree trimming. A single pass for storm debris removal is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, with residents asked to place branches in parkways. Significant rainfall is expected on Wednesday, which could impact debris removal timing. ComEd reported 17 downed power lines, and village departments (fire, police, public works) worked to manage hazards until ComEd could de-energize lines. The village believes it fared better than some neighboring towns in terms of outages. Updates on debris removal progress will be posted on the village website. Regarding the Springdale project, the detention basin did not trigger during the recent storms, indicating it functions correctly for significant rainfall events. The Springdale Park project is nearing completion with ADA accessible pathways being installed. The new Summer Springs day camp launched successfully, alongside the existing Safety Village camp.
