50th Street Storm Sewer Construction and Detour Plan Approved
The village received input from IDOT's detour committee regarding a permit for the 50th Street storm sewer construction. A conceptual detour plan was approved, with further details being developed by consultants. The village will work with MWRD on an intergovernmental agreement for project funding, with bids expected in the fall. The project requires detouring traffic on East Avenue due to the sewer line crossing it. This project has been in development for years and represents a significant step towards mitigation and water management.
Community Celebrates Juneteenth with Events and Fundraiser
The village celebrated Juneteenth with multiple events. Senator Lightfoot hosted a well-attended event on Thursday evening, and on Friday, an event at LT in the Corral featured various booths and historical information, led by Lace Up Athletics. Lace Up Athletics is collaborating with Tate's Ice Cream on a 'Cherry Vibes' fundraiser, donating a portion of proceeds to Lace Up Athletics for community use. The Community Diversity Group is promoting this initiative, encouraging residents to try the new ice cream flavor.
Village Board Approves Outsourced Accounting Services with Lauterbach & Amen LLP
The Village Board approved an agreement for client accounting and advisory services with Lauterbach & Amen LLP. This agreement aims to supplement the existing finance department staff, enhance reporting, improve processes, and facilitate the transition to new enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The firm will assign Kathleen Morley as Finance Director and Joanna Catterman as Assistant Finance Director, bringing extensive experience in municipal finance and ERP implementation. The agreement's term was clarified to extend to December 31, 2028, addressing a discrepancy between the resolution's stated 3-year term and the contract's specific end date. The decision followed an RFP process where Lauterbach & Amen was unanimously selected for their qualifications.
