City Council Approves Fiscal Year 2027 Tax Budget Submission
The city council reviewed and approved Resolution A, which involves submitting the fiscal year 2027 tax budget to the Miami County Budget Commission. This is a required annual submission outlining fund balances, anticipated revenues, and expenditures. Staff presented the resolution, and after a public hearing with no public comment, the council voted to approve it.
Council Enters Executive Session for Personnel Matters
The council convened in executive session for personnel matters. All available members of the council, the city manager, and Mr. Green were present. The session was called to order pursuant to section 121.22G of the Ohio Revised Code and Council Rule 31.34 of the Tip City Code Ordinances.
Public Hearing Set for Rezoning of 101 West Broadway
A motion was made and seconded to set August 3rd, 2026, as the public hearing date for the rezoning of 101 West Broadway. The Planning Board previously recommended approval for rezoning the property from R3 multi-family development back to legacy development zoning. The proposed ordinance for this rezoning is scheduled for introduction at the July 20th meeting, with the public hearing coinciding with the second reading of the ordinance on August 3rd.
City and Schools to Share Costs for New Sports Signs
During citizen comments, Kathy Bone inquired about the locations of new sports signs. Mr. Mack clarified that two signs are definitely being installed: one near the high school along Don Davis Way and another on the east side of 571. A third sign on the west side of 571 is being considered logistically, but may not happen. It was confirmed that a previously planned sign near the cemetery will not be installed due to space constraints from culvert work. The remaining cost for the signs, after a $17,000 grant from the TIP Foundation and Lesher Fund, is $24,227. This cost will be shared equally between the city and Tip City Schools. Installation will be handled by a third-party contractor.
City Declares Surplus Electrical Equipment
The city council approved Resolution B, declaring a GEFS6 switch, used in the electric department's distribution to transmission system, as surplus property. The equipment has reached its end of useful life and is no longer necessary for the city's general operations. The resolution passed with all council members voting in favor after a public hearing where no members of the public spoke.
