Village Approves Special Event Applications for Bike Festival and 'We Back The Blue' Event
The board approved special event applications for two upcoming events: the East DuPage and Fox Valley Ride to Thrive Bike for the Kids Festival on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, and the JP Car Shows LLC, We Back The Blue event on Saturday, September 26th, 2026. These approvals allow the respective organizations to proceed with their planned community gatherings.
Village Approves Payments for Park Redevelopment and Pickleball Court Projects
The board approved authorizing partial payment number three for the Patton Mill Park pickleball courts project in the amount of $134,912.83, to Lindblad Construction Company of Joliet, Illinois. Additionally, they approved authorizing partial payment number one for the Ralphy Tretter Park redevelopment project in the amount of $81,959 with GLI Services Incorporated.
Village Authorizes Purchase Order for 2026 Pavement Marking and Striping Project
The village board approved the execution of a purchase order for the 2026 pavement marking and striping project with Superior Road Striping. The village will utilize pricing established by the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative for road striping services. The approved expenditure is up to $50,000, which is the budgeted amount for this project. The primary areas of focus for the striping will be Spring Street, Gilbert Street, and another unnamed street, with additional funds allocated for stop bars and crosswalks as needed. The board moved to authorize the village president to execute the purchase order.
Trustee Inquires About Wall Markings and Addresses Software Glitches
Trustee Brendan inquired about white spots on a wall on Route 31, which were explained as cleaning efforts for dinged-up spots. These spots are expected to fade, and if not, power washing or grass installation may address them. He also noted that the spots were not graffiti. Additionally, Trustee Brendan mentioned being deleted from the committee reports in the software and expressed concern, which was attributed to ongoing software issues and a need for refreshing the system.
