The City Council considered a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with The Meadows at Chandler Creek Municipal Utility District (MUD). The existing 40-year agreement, expiring June 26th, makes the City of Round Rock responsible for repair, maintenance, and billing for the entire MUD. The proposed amendment is an extension to the end of the year to allow for negotiations on a new, fair agreement, considering the aging infrastructure which could cost an estimated $60 million for new water lines and $40 million for new wastewater lines. The city will also discuss street maintenance, currently handled by Williamson County, and the MUD's lower tax rate compared to the city's.
City Recognizes Round Rock High School Gymnastics Teams for State Championship Success
The Round Rock City Council recognized the Round Rock High School Boys Gymnastics Team for winning the 2026 State Championship and the Girls Gymnastics Team for achieving second place in the 2026 State Championship. Both proclamations highlighted the teams' dedication, hard work, and the honor they brought to the city and school. The boys' team also set a new state record, and individual athlete Diego Chachi holds five out of eight state records. Land Acquired for Future Fire Station in Northeast Round Rock
The City Council considered a resolution authorizing the execution of a real estate purchase contract with Nelson Homestead Family Partnership MTD for a 2.50-acre fire station site. This site is located in the northeast part of Round Rock, adjacent to the 4.50-acre parcel acquired for a water storage tank and pump station. The location offers excellent access via University Boulevard and County Road 107/110, facilitating response times for Station 7 and other potential future stations. The council noted discussions about potential substation locations and the need for future stations in south-central Round Rock.
