Forest View Mixed-Use Development Amendments Approved by Village Board

The plan commission unanimously recommended approval with two conditions: substantial compliance with revised detail sheets and obtaining all required permits before work commences. The board subsequently approved the ordinance.
Wheeling Approves $88,700 Contract with Convention and Visitors Bureau
The village board discussed and approved a resolution authorizing the village president and clerk to execute an agreement with the Chicago Northshore Convention and Visitors Bureau for membership and services. This agreement is for the fiscal year July 1st, 2026, to June 30th, 2027, with a cost of $88,700. The Chicago Northshore Convention and Visitors Bureau (CNSCBB) is described as a vital partner in promoting dining and tourism in Wheeling, supporting local hotels like the Weston and other restaurant partners through various marketing initiatives.
Special Census Underway: Residents Urged to Respond for Fair State Funding
The village is conducting a special census, with the third of four mailings being sent out. Residents are urged to complete their online responses promptly to avoid a census worker visit in July and to encourage neighbors to do the same. Accurate census counts are crucial for the community as they directly influence the amount of state revenue Wheeling receives, which is used for essential services like fire, police, and public works. Village Board Approves Consent Agenda Items Including Sewer Lining and Road Striping Contracts
The Village Board approved several items on the consent agenda. These included accepting a bid and approving a contract with National Power Rotoring Roding Corp. for the 2026 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project ($164,400), approving a one-year renewal of a contract with Superior Road Striping, Inc. for the 2026 payment marking program (not to exceed $34,54.92), authorizing an addendum to a professional service agreement with Casew Worthy, Inc. for data migration services for the social service division's case management database system ($10,365), and approving an agreement with Public Safety Testing PST for pre-employment testing services. Additionally, they approved an ordinance amending parking restrictions on Larkin Drive and adopted amendments to the rules and regulations of the board of fire and police commissioners.
Sarinella's Restaurant Receives Village Grant for Major Renovation
The village board approved a resolution awarding a restaurant, entertainment, and retail buildout grant to Osteria Wheeling LLC, doing business as Sarinella's Restaurant, located at 601 North Milwaukee Avenue. This grant is for a renovation project that includes upgrades to the Grand Salon with new flooring, ceiling, drapery, artwork, and aesthetics, estimated at over $170,000. A second phase of renovation will address the second-floor space to allow for more flexible use and accommodate groups from 20 to 250 people. The total renovation budget for Sarinella's is over $750,000. This project is seen as a significant investment for Sarinella's, the village, and the adjacent Weston Hotel.
