Forest View Mixed-Use Development Amendments Approved by Village Board

The village board considered an ordinance to amend a previously approved special use and planned unit development (PUD) for the Forest View mixed-use development at 350 East Dundee Road. The proposed amendments include design updates to metal awnings, an increase in parking lot pole heights from 23 to 30 feet, refinements to residential floor plans increasing minimum dwelling unit size, an update to the number of dwelling units below the R4 minimum size from 7 to 10, and modifications to fourth-floor rooftop deck areas for larger outdoor spaces and privacy walls. The plan commission unanimously recommended approval with two conditions: substantial compliance with revised detail sheets and obtaining all required permits before work commences. The board subsequently approved the ordinance.

Special Census Underway: Residents Urged to Respond for Fair State Funding

The village is conducting a special census, with the third of four mailings being sent out. Residents are urged to complete their online responses promptly to avoid a census worker visit in July and to encourage neighbors to do the same. Accurate census counts are crucial for the community as they directly influence the amount of state revenue Wheeling receives, which is used for essential services like fire, police, and public works. An accurate count prevents potential unplanned property tax increases that could arise from not receiving a fair share of state funds. Information is available on the village website.
