Village Receives Clean Financial Audit Opinion and GFOA Award

The 2025 Financial Audit and Management Letter was presented by Finance Director Mr. Black and Jamie Wilke from Lauterbach & Associates. The audit resulted in a 'clean' or unmodified opinion, indicating the village's financials are materially correct. There were no findings related to internal controls. The village received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the highest level of financial reporting. The audit report, including Management's Discussion and Analysis (MDNA) and a statistical section with 10-year trend information, was provided. The SAS 114 letter confirmed standard communication with no disagreements with management. Both Mr. Black and Ms. Wilke commended the village staff, particularly Christine Berman, for their cooperation and excellent work on the audit. Trustee Cesario inquired about the increase in net position, which was attributed to continued investment in capital assets and infrastructure. Trustee Cesario also asked about the pension funding status, with IMRF at 92% funded (exceeding the 2040 requirement), police pension at 86.05% funded (one of the highest for its size), and fire pension at 90.8% funded (top-tier).

The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) unanimously recommended approval, subject to staff conditions.
