PZC Recommends Approval for 5-Foot Fence Variation at 135 Schult Drive

The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) considered an application for a fence variation at 135 Schult Drive. The applicant, Chris Romanghoff, requested permission to install a 5-foot high fence in a corner sideyard, which is currently restricted to 3-foot high fences in that specific setback area. The primary reasons for the requested variation are to ensure the safety of young children (a three-year-old and an almost one-year-old) and a dog, as well as to gain some privacy. The proposed fence would be located approximately 18 feet off the house and would be hidden by existing trees and foliage, thus not impacting sight lines for traffic. Neighbors have been consulted and expressed support for the variation. The staff report indicated the application was largely in compliance, marked with green. The PZC discussed the item and recommended approval of the application to the Village Board. The next step is for the Village Board to consider the application on July 6th.
