Village Approves Contract for Lead Line Inspections After Waiving Bids
The Village Board approved a resolution authorizing the waiver of competitive bidding and approved a contract with National Industrial Maintenance for lead line service inspection. This waiver is necessary because this year's scope of work exceeds the original bid by more than 50%. The village was able to secure good pricing from last year's bid and is satisfied with the work completed. The contract is not to exceed $520,000 for this year's lead line inspection. The project is set to start the following Monday and should last a couple of weeks.
HMG Engineers Contract Approved for Lead Service Line Inspections
The Village Board approved a resolution authorizing the waiver of competitive bidding and a professional services agreement number one with HMG Engineers for fiscal 2017 lead service line inspections. This waiver is due to the contract exceeding 50% of the original agreement. Staff recommended approving the change order with HMG not to exceed $78,600.
Heather Konyar Sworn in as Commander of Lakemoor Police Department
Heather Konyar was officially sworn in as Commander for the Lakemoor Police Department. Her career began in 2002, and she has held numerous positions including patrol officer, detective, school resource officer, evidence technician, juvenile officer, public information officer, patrol sergeant, and detective sergeant. She also served as a public information officer for the Lakemoor Police Department and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. She was promoted to patrol sergeant in 2021 and detective sergeant in 2024. She is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police and Staff and Command. Her promotion recognizes her service, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Village Approves Procurement of Sanitary Sewer Pump from Sole Source Distributor
The Village Board considered and approved a resolution authorizing the waiver of competitive bidding and approving the procurement of a sanitary sewer pump from Xylem Water Solutions Incorporated for Lift Station 10, located off Swarthout Road near Garland and Gossel Road. This station had a pump failure, and the cost of repairs was similar to a new pump. The station has undergone extensive work, including replacing one pump and isolation check valves. Xylem is the sole source local distributor of Flygt brand pumps. Staff recommended waiving the bid process and approving the purchase for $31,839. The wait time for the pump is 8 to 10 weeks. The station can operate with its remaining two pumps.
Village Approves Pavement Evaluation Study Using Advanced Technology
The Village Board considered and approved a resolution authorizing the approval of a professional services agreement between HMG Engineers and the Village of Wauconda for an updated pavement evaluation study. The last full pavement evaluation was completed in 2016, with an updated review in 2021 covering only 5-10% of roads. This new evaluation will use lidar technology and AI analysis with a dash-mounted camera to map future road projects. Staff recommended approving the agreement with HMG for $32,500. The duration of the study's applicability is estimated to be 5 to 10 years.
