Ethics Board Approves Minutes, Reviews Office Report, and Amends Bylaws on Political Activity

The Ethics Board reviewed and approved the minutes from their previous meeting. They also discussed the ethics office report for the period of May 11th to June 10th, 2020, which included details on new employee training, special sessions, the campaign contribution refund program, and completion of ethics courses for existing employees. The board also reviewed the financial report, noting a balance of $231,000 and expenditures related to vehicle replacement. No formal complaints were reported, but three informal matters were discussed: a misuse of property allegation outside their jurisdiction, a formal complaint about a tele-health physician position referred to the Department of Health, and a request for advice on city employee volunteering for a city election campaign, which was outside their jurisdiction. The board also discussed and amended its bylaws regarding prohibited political activities for board members and staff, passing a motion to incorporate the new language.
