Emergency Generator Repair Approved to Ensure Water Treatment Reliability
An emergency repair to the number one standby generator at the water treatment plant was approved. The generator, installed in 1992, experienced a major failure on March 10th, 2026, due to a worn and lacking lubrication cylinder. A replacement would cost $2 million and not be available until late 2028. The repair, performed by Yansy Caterpillar, cost $291,885.30 and is expected to last another 30 years, with a one-year warranty. This repair ensures the city can continue to provide safe water during power outages.
City Approves Upgrades for Lift Stations to Improve Employee Safety
The council considered purchasing two quality-of-life upgrades for the Garnto and Reamer master lift stations. These upgrades involve constructing safe control rooms at each station, as employees are currently required to stay at these locations during weather events. The sole source provider is Sheds Galore and More, with a total cost of $65,400, which is under the budgeted $80,000. The upgrades will include restrooms, plumbing, and air conditioning. The council approved the purchase.

The council reviewed bids for plumbing services citywide. Two eligible bids were received, and the recommendation is to award the contract to Septic Solutions, the lower bidder.
