Oyster Bay High School Class of 2026 Achieves High Graduation Rate and Navigates Competitive College Admissions Successfully

The presentation on the Class of 2026 and college updates revealed significant achievements in student success. The district is on track for a 98% graduation rate for the Class of 2026, attributed to early intervention, family partnerships, and individualized support. In college admissions, despite a turbulent cycle nationwide, Oyster Bay High School seniors demonstrated exceptional resilience, with 94% submitting applications by December 1st, 76% applying early action, and 66% pursuing early decision or priority deadlines. Notably, 100% of college applicants applied to at least one four-year college, a first in five years. The counseling department's personalized guidance and strategic approach are credited for these successes, ensuring students are prepared for college and career pathways. One graduating student has enlisted in the U.S. Marines.

Enhancements Planned for High School Turf Field Spectator Area Using Unspent Bond Proceeds

The board discussed and is moving forward with plans to enhance the spectator area adjacent to the high school turf field by constructing a seating wall and gathering space, similar to the existing terrazza. This project falls within the scope of the voter-approved bond referendum. The allocated funds for this enhancement will come from unspent bond proceeds, totaling $190,000 from the July 2025 bond issuance. The project aims to provide proper seating, maintain the field's condition by redirecting spectators, and improve safety for those viewing events. The design team will prepare bid specifications, and the project is expected to commence immediately, with work potentially starting over the summer for completion around September.
