City Designates Road Improvement Projects for State LRA Funding

The city is eligible for $16,233.52 in LRA funding, which requires designating projects to the state for approval to release the funds. The proposed projects, totaling an estimated $17,200, include storm drainage and pipe work in various areas such as Chestnut and Cypress, Cardinal Palm Street, Spruce Street, and Tallest and Sour Wood areas. The city would need to cover a remaining $1,000 (or less, depending on project selection) from its general fund for repairs. This designation is a formality to secure the funds for necessary infrastructure improvements. The motion to approve the listed projects for LRA funding passed unanimously (4-0).
Sanitation Rates to Decrease by $5 Monthly Starting July 2026
The city council approved reducing the monthly sanitation services fee from $40 to $35, effective July 1, 2026. This reduction is possible due to a more favorable contract with the new sanitation company. The work included initial plumbing, camera inspection, snake services, and professional cleaning. All three motions passed unanimously (4-0).
