Home Occupation Ordinance Amendments Approved

Town Honors Resident with 'Yard of the Quarter' and Inaugural 'Heart of Irmo' Award
The town recognized Cheryl for 'Yard of the Quarter' at 330 North Royal Tower Drive for maintaining a beautiful landscape, contributing to the town's charm. Cheryl received a gift card from Seven Oaks Flower Shop. Separately, the first 'Heart of Irmo' award was presented to Julie Zimmerman for her selfless volunteerism and contributions to the community, embodying Irmo's spirit through warmth, honesty, work ethic, and collaborative spirit. Preferred General Contractor List Approved for Municipal Projects
The council approved a motion to establish a list of preferred general construction contractors for on-call services for municipal projects, repairs, maintenance, renovations, and capital improvements. The town received three qualified responses from RFPs: Pyramid Contracting, Verus Construction, and CNC Commercial Interiors. This list will be used for smaller capital items, requiring at least three quotes before coming back to council for final approval. The list will be redone every three years. HR Director Introduced; Public Works Projects, Community Events, and Ordinance Updates Highlighted
During the administrative briefing, the new HR Director, Mary Alice, was introduced. Lexington County Public Works was thanked for installing a new stop sign at Mosley and Carlisle due to near misses. A parking lot repair was postponed to the 20th due to manpower issues. Lexington Health updated murals at More Park. A community event at Rawls Creek Park was a success, and it's being considered as an annual event. Staff is interviewing banks for RFP recommendations.
