Council Reviews Contract for County Health Services Amid Cost Concerns

The council discussed and moved to place on first reading an ordinance authorizing an agreement with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health for health services for calendar years 2026 and 2027. This is a legally mandated service that the city must provide either in-house or through a contract. The proposed contract is for nearly $900,000 over two years, with a significant year-over-year increase. Council members expressed concerns about the cost increase and requested that the county provide a presentation to explain the rising costs and their services. The law director will invite the county to present at a future meeting.
