BBHCSD Regular Board Meeting June 24, 2026 6:00pm
Published: Jun 24, 2026
District Seeks New Elementary Staff Member, Approves Personnel Actions and Service Agreements
The district is seeking to hire an additional staff member for a newly created unit at the elementary level, potentially requiring a special meeting before July 10th. While most certified positions are filled, the district is continuously seeking bus drivers, custodians, and aids. The board approved various personnel recommendations, including certified, classified, and supplemental staff, along with one resignation from a retired rehire who was not interested in a full-time position. Scott Sailor will join the curriculum department as an administrative assistant, and Leslie Lobby, EMIS coordinator and registrar, is retiring on August 31st. The board also approved agreements for various specialized services for students, including ABA outreach, KidsLink, Cleveland Clinic, Gerson school, and adult day transition services, as well as renewals for United Cable Policy and other yearly contracts.
School Resource Officer Agreement Renewed; District Funds 70% of One Officer's Cost
The board approved the renewal of the three-year agreement for the City of Broadview Heights School Resource Officer (SRO) program. The district covers 70% of the total contract and salaries for one officer, with the other officer's costs being part of an older agreement not charged to the district. The district also has no current charge for the SRO at the elementary school in Brexville.
May Financial Report Shows $24.4 Million Cash Balance, Investment Dashboard Reviewed
The board reviewed the financial report for the month of May 2026, noting a cash balance of $24.4 million and 151 days of cash on hand. Expenditures for the month were $4.5 million, with total expenditures projected to be within 1% variance of the financial forecast. The report also detailed revenue and expenditure comparisons to the prior fiscal year and highlighted a timing difference in property tax allocation. An investment dashboard was also presented, showing yields of 4.16% for the custodial account and 3.72% for the construction account.
Worker Injury Solutions Proposal Approved, Fully Funded by Grant
The board approved a worker injury solutions proposal for $7,900, fully covered by a Bureau of Workers' Compensation grant of up to $8,200. The program will provide education on workplace injuries, job analyses for high-risk positions, and resources to help injured workers return to work safely. This initiative aims to mitigate the rising number of TT claims and reduce workers' compensation premiums.
Insurance Renewed with Significant Increase in Cyber Policy Costs
The board approved the renewal of property casualty liability and crime insurance with SORSA, and a cyber policy with CFC, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. While most insurance costs saw a modest 1.5% increase, the cyber policy doubled in cost to $21,000 due to stricter requirements and difficulty in obtaining coverage, necessitating changes like shutting down remote access and using security fobs.
