Community Service Committee Discusses Upcoming Events and Foundation Success
The Community Service committee meeting, led by Council Person Kelly, focused on upcoming events and the Seven Hills Community Foundation. He also provided an update on the Seven Hills Community Foundation (501c3), which supports city events and causes by raising funds to reduce costs for residents, citing success with summer concerts. An update on the Parma Redden Rock event was also provided, estimating around $1,000-$1,300 was raised, which covers the cost of a band. The event saw an estimated 500-600 attendees and provided an opportunity for residents to interact with elected officials. The positive impact of such community events on resident engagement was noted.
Police and Fire Committee Meeting Concludes Without New Business
The Police and Fire committee meeting, chaired by Councilman Elliott, had no items for discussion or action. The committee meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM and adjourned shortly after. There were no comments or updates from the committee members, Director LT, or the Mayor.
Lot Split on Seven Hills Boulevard Referred to Planning Commission Due to Undedicated Roadway Section
During the Finance committee meeting, two items were discussed. The first was the purchase of salt, which was moved to the agenda for the next meeting. The second item, a lot split for a parcel on Seven Hills Boulevard near Cherry, was presented as a mandatory referral to the Planning Commission. Engineering review revealed that a portion of Seven Hills Boulevard was not dedicated for public use, necessitating this cleanup. The Planning Commission will review the lot split, with a recommendation to be sent back to the council for confirmation or denial. The Planning Commission has a 15-day notice period before their July 7th meeting. The item was referred to the Planning Commission.
Public Works Committee Discusses Salt Purchase for Upcoming Season Amid Price Increase
The Public Works committee meeting, led by Council Pro Tem Costanzo, addressed the purchase of salt for the 2026-2027 season. Director Brider explained the purchase is made through the Rexville Broadview Heights Consortium, and the price has increased by $10 per ton from the previous year. The presented figure represents the maximum amount that can be purchased, including a 40% buffer allowed by the consortium bid. The committee noted that the city's storage is currently at maximum capacity with 1,200 tons from the previous year. The item was added to the agenda for the next meeting.
