Ordinance Removing Old Mobile Food Vendor Regulations Advanced to Second Reading
Ordinance 3613, which amended city code by removing definitions and references to mobile food service establishments from various sections related to food service operators and itinerant merchants, was advanced to a second reading. This ordinance is intended to align city code with the state's Food Truck Freedom Act. The vote was 4-0.
New Thunder Community Court Opens at Southern Woods Park
The city is celebrating the ribbon cutting for a new Thunder Community Court at Southern Woods Park on Friday, June 26th, at 2:30 p.m. This project, a collaboration with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Thunder Community Foundation, involved resurfacing and repainting the existing outdoor basketball court with Thunder branding, adding new goals, and expanding the facility. Special guests, including Thunder entertainers and mascots, will attend.
Speed Limit Adjustments on 12th and 19th Avenues to Enhance Safety
Two speed limit changes are taking effect: 1) On 12th Avenue between Jefferson and Duck, the speed limit is increasing from 30 mph to 35 mph, extending an existing zone and reflecting updated traffic study data. 2) On 19th Avenue between Country Club and Sanger, the speed limit is decreasing from 40 mph to 35 mph to enhance pedestrian safety, especially near three active pedestrian crossings and a school route. These changes are based on traffic studies and aim to improve safety.
City Grants Cable Television Franchise to Optimum
Ordinance 3607, granting a non-exclusive cable television franchise to Sebridge Acquisition LP (doing business as Optimum), was adopted with a 4-0 vote. The franchise allows Optimum to construct, operate, and maintain a cable system in the city for providing cable service, subject to conditions and regulations related to public rights-of-way.
City Council Approves Rezoning of 702 South Adam Street to Public Zoning
The City Council considered a map amendment to rezone 702 South Adam Street from Small Lot Single Family Residential (RSS) to Public (P). The property is located south of Stillwater Medical Center and currently has a single-family home. The future land use map designates this area for public and civic uses. The Planning Commission recommended approval with a 4-0 vote, and the City Council subsequently approved the map amendment with a 4-0 vote.
