Parkway Residents Urge Dialogue on Proposed City Fencing Project
Residents from Parkway Avenue voiced significant concerns regarding a proposed fencing project on city-owned property adjacent to their homes. Speakers highlighted issues related to lack of dialogue with the city, potential impacts on fire mitigation, property maintenance, utility access, and the emotional and generational value of the land. They requested a collaborative conversation and meaningful engagement with the city before any decisions are finalized.
Resident Urges Expansion of Indigent Death Services to Include Burials
During a public hearing regarding budget amendments, a resident named Hazel advocated for expanding the city's indigent death services to include burials, in addition to cremation. Currently, the city's policy only offers cremation for non-homicide victims who cannot afford a funeral. Hazel believes everyone deserves the dignity of a burial if they choose and suggested the city allocate funds for this purpose.
