Easy Fiber Permit Moves Forward for Internet Services

CDBG Program Updates: Loan Dissolution and 2026 Action Plan

Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation and Use-of-Force Review
Deputy Police Chief Ray Brady discussed a critical incident, an officer-involved shooting in October 2025 where the individual survived. The investigation was conducted by the Capital Metro Independent Investigative Team, comprising neighboring jurisdictions, to ensure impartiality. A use-of-force review board, including community representatives, reviewed the incident, finding actions within policy but issuing recommendations for policy, training, and equipment, which OPD will implement. Community representatives shared overwhelmingly positive feedback on the process, noting it deepened trust between the city and community members.
New Strategic Communications Director Announced for Olympia
The city announced Brandon Chappie Chapman as the new strategic communications director. He grew up in Olympia and expressed excitement about returning to work in the community.
Ongoing Community Events: FIFA Fan Zone and Pride Celebrations
Council members reported on their activities, highlighting ongoing events like the FIFA fan zone, which had approximately 3,000 attendees for its first event. They also promoted city participation in upcoming Pride events, including a booth at Percival Landing and a parade. Residents are encouraged to participate in these community events.
