Lakewood City Council Recognizes Pride Month, Honors Local Business, Discusses Environmental Concerns and Baseball Facility Agreement
The City Council recognized June 2026 as LGBTQ Pride Month with a proclamation and honored Touchstone TMS as the June 2026 Business Showcase for their community impact and specialized healthcare services. Dr. Chris Peterson of Touchstone TMS spoke about their dedication to mental health and treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other conditions, noting the significant impact of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with a high response rate. The council also heard public comments regarding environmental concerns, particularly the protection of Gary Oaks and wetlands, and a potential facility use agreement with the West Coast Baseball League for improvements to a baseball field at Fort Sillicum Park. Additionally, the council reviewed a resolution establishing an encroachment evaluation process for lake terminating rights-of-way and a request for HOME funding for down payment assistance for the American Lake Townhomes project.
