NCT 911 Board Approves Policy Revisions, Contracts, and Provides Updates
The NCT 911 Board of Managers met on June 10th and approved minutes from March 11th, 2026, adopted revisions to policy ADM 2.8 for boundary changes and annexations to align with NG 911 GIS-based service boundaries, authorized a contract with Verizon Wireless for emergency communication services up to $150,000, and authorized a contract with SHI Government Solutions for Microsoft Licensing Maintenance Services up to $250,000. They also provided informational updates on FIFA preparations, translation issues using AI and Voyance, quarterly financial reports, call handling equipment workstation utilization, the safe streets and roads for all grant application, legislative and strategic visioning for 2050, and narrowed down NG 911 core services procurement to final vendors. The next meeting is scheduled for September 9th.

The City Council issued a proclamation recognizing Mary Pat Eller for her dedication and leadership in founding the Murphy Veterans Tribute. Over a nine-year period, Eller's vision and perseverance guided the project from concept to completion, inspiring community engagement and collaboration. The Murphy Veterans Tribute stands as a lasting symbol of gratitude and remembrance for veterans' sacrifices. Mayor Pro Tem Scott Smith, along with Mayor Scott Bradley and the council, expressed sincere appreciation for Eller's instrumental role in bringing the memorial to reality.
City of Murphy Proclaims Juneteenth Independence Day
The City Council recognized Juneteenth with a proclamation. Council Member Janae Butler, on behalf of Mayor Scott Bradley and the City Council, proclaimed June 19th, 2026, as Juneteenth Independence Day in Murphy. The proclamation acknowledged the historical significance of June 19th, 1865, as the end of slavery in the United States, and highlighted Juneteenth as a day of reflection, celebration of resilience, and a reminder of the ongoing journey towards equity and justice. City Council Authorizes Contract Amendments for City Manager After Executive Session
The City Council entered executive session to discuss pending litigation regarding code enforcement nuisances and training on employment law basics, as well as personnel matters concerning the City Manager, Aretha Adams. Upon reconvening, the council authorized the City Attorney to amend Aretha Adams' contract regarding housing and severance, and authorized the Mayor to execute the addendum. This action was taken unanimously.
