St. Mary's Parish Hall Wedding Reception Approved for Beer/Wine License and Entertainment
The board considered an application from Luz Auiza for a one-day beer and wine license for a wedding reception at St. Mary's Parish Hall (17 Winter Street) on August 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM to midnight. Traditionally, the board extends such licenses by one hour to allow for cleanup. The board approved the license from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Subsequently, the board also approved a one-time entertainment license for the same wedding event on the same date, from 6:00 PM to midnight.
Maze Remodeling Group Awarded Contract for Milford Town Hall Interior Painting
The board approved the painting of interior doors and trim at the Milford Town Hall. Maze Remodeling Group was awarded the contract for this work at a price of $48,890. This project was an addition to the original town hall painting contract and required a separate procurement process under Chapter 30B due to exceeding limits for a change order.
Intersection Improvement Project at Route 109 and Beaver Street Eligible for Federal Funding
Representative Brian Murray notified Mass DOT's highway division project review committee that the intersection improvement project at Route 109 and Beaver Street, including the I-95 southbound off-ramp, has been evaluated and is eligible for federal aid highway funding. The estimated total federal participating construction cost is significant, covering bid items, police details, construction engineering, contingencies, and utility relocation. The project will be fully programmed on the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This secures funding for a project deemed important for the community.
National Grid and Verizon Authorized to Install New Pole on Beaver Street
The Massachusetts Electric Company, doing business as National Grid, and Verizon New England Incorporated petitioned to install one joint ownership pole at 11 Beaver Street to support a new recloser. The proposal also included permission to lay necessary underground laterals, cables, and wires for connections. The pole, designated pole 7-50, is a 50 ft H1 pole required due to the weight of the recloser and existing equipment on other poles in the area. The board authorized National Grid to proceed with the installation.
Sons of Italy Club Receives Approval for All-Alcohol License Transfer and Location Change
The Sons of Italy Dramatic and Sportsman Club Incorporated applied for a transfer of an all-alcohol license from Powerless Incorporated (DBA The Tradesmen), a change in the class of license from seasonal to annual, and a change of location from the former Tradesmen Lounge on West Street to the club's property at 55 Depot Street. The club, organized in 1933 and operating as a charitable organization, intends to forfeit its seasonal license upon approval. All necessary paperwork was in order, with approvals from the building commission, plan compliance, treasury tax collector, fire chief, and police chief. The board of health noted no food permit was required as it is a social club. The board unanimously approved the application.
