Proposed Revisions to Vacant Property Ordinance Aim to Reduce Long-Term Vacancies

The Community Development and Code committee met to discuss potential changes to the vacant property registration ordinance. The goal is to reduce the number of properties that remain vacant for extended periods. Proposed revisions focus on setting performance measures for owners, enforcing deadlines, and moving properties towards completion or a plan rather than just allowing annual fee payments for vacant properties. Special attention was given to the issue of boarding up windows, with a discussion on implementing a timeline for such measures, as current code allows indefinite use of plywood or translucent materials. A draft ordinance is being prepared for council presentation [cite: 116-159].

Airport Fuel Sales and Storm Cleanup Update

Sales figures for airport fuel in May were reported: Jet A fuel sales were 523.47 gallons, with a year-to-date total of 10,088.94 gallons. LLM fuel sales in May were 1,473 gallons, with a year-to-date total of 2,620.06 gallons. The report noted a slight decrease in jet fuel sales for the month.
