Mankato Moves Forward with Bidding for Air Traffic Control Tower

The draft ordinance, adapted from another community, aims to allow time for study and code development. Key discussions included expanding the definition beyond data centers to include 'large-scale resource users' to address other industries like ethanol plants or bottling facilities that consume significant resources. The proposed moratorium would last up to a year, pausing the acceptance of applications for data centers and similar large users while research and public engagement occur. A public hearing is scheduled for July 13th to discuss the draft ordinance, with the possibility of including the broader definition.
