Joliet Catholic Academy Athletic Facilities and Vista Ridge Subdivision Move Forward After Planning Commission Recommendation

The Planning Commission recommended approval for the final Planned Unit Development (PUD) of Joliet Catholic Academy's athletic facilities campus, located at 1201 Wyoming Avenue and 1200 North Larkin Avenue. The project, covering approximately 48 acres, includes the development of a multi-purpose athletic field with 5,500 seats, eight new tennis courts, locker rooms, and expanded parking. The development will occur in three phases, with final approval allowing the project to proceed to the City Council. The commission also reviewed and recommended approval for PUD 7-26, a final plat of resubdivision for Vista Ridge phase three, which will allow for the construction of 78 single-family residential lots. Additionally, a public alley vacation (V-5-26) adjacent to 359 Whitney Avenue was recommended for approval, allowing the property owner to maintain the disrepaired alley portion. Lastly, an annexation request (A-2-26) for a 0.14-acre vacant lot at the intersection of Elgin Avenue and Leach Avenue was recommended for approval, to consolidate it with an adjacent property for future development, including the construction of a shed.
