Trustee Contero announced upcoming community events, including the annual village picnic on June 28th at Village Hall, featuring free hot dogs, art expos, bingo, a fishing derby, and egg toss contest. A hot dog eating contest with limited spots for Bowling Brook residents will also be held. Additionally, Trustee Contero mentioned the Piesta Pinoy event held on Saturday was well-organized and attended.
Bowling Brook Golf Club to Host 'Best in State' Fireworks for Fourth of July
The Village Board acknowledged the upcoming Fourth of July celebration at the Bowling Brook Golf Club, promising an 'extravaganza firework' event described as the best in the state. Shuttle service from Plainfield East High School will be available starting at 4 PM. Parking across the street from the golf club is $20, with proceeds going to the Bowling Brook Lions Club. Limited 'pods' offering reserved spots and amenities are also available for purchase at the golf club.
iFest International Festival to Showcase Global Diversity at Town Center
The Village Board announced the iFest International Festival will be held on the Saturday following the Fourth of July at town center. This free event will feature nearly 30 countries represented, with entertainment on stage, cultural booths, and vendors selling international foods and merchandise. The festival aims to showcase the community's diversity and offer a global experience locally.
Village to Implement Traffic Data Analysis Software for Enhanced Safety
The Village Board authorized the purchase of traffic data analysis software from Urban SDK Inc. This software will assist in responding to public complaints, prioritizing street safety, and measuring the effectiveness of traffic calming measures. The total cost for the software is not to exceed $28,462.50, which is $537.50 under the budgeted amount. The purchase was approved by the Public Safety Committee.
Fire Department to Replace 2015 Chevy Silverado with New Ford F-150
The Village Board authorized the auction of a 2015 Chevy Silverado and the purchase of a new Ford F-150 for the fire department. The new vehicle will include a cargo glide, battle mat, and emergency lights and equipment. The total cost for the new F-150 and associated equipment is not to exceed $74,680.83, which is $6,319.17 under the budgeted amount. This was reviewed and approved by the Public Safety Committee.
