Sy Road Bridge Project Faces Slight Delay Due to Pending Agency Approvals
Public Works provided an update on the Sy Road bridge project, noting a slight delay of a couple of weeks. The delay is attributed to waiting for approvals from IDNR and Will Cook Soil for river access. The demolition plan has recently been approved, and work is expected to commence soon, possibly the following week, pending final agency approvals. The contractor's hands are tied due to ongoing plan reviews by other agencies.
Trustees Commend Public Works, Discuss Property Aesthetics
During the trustee comments, Trustee Amos expressed gratitude for the village's cleanup efforts following the storm on June 10th, commending Public Works for their work. Trustee Brockman echoed this sentiment, thanking Public Works for their rapid response in clearing debris in his area within three days. Trustee Luciano thanked the legal team for a quickly provided memo. Trustee Selfridge inquired about improving the appearance of an eyesore property at a prominent corner, suggesting the possibility of temporary decorations for America 250 or painting to help it blend in, acknowledging that demolition or redevelopment might take time.

Village Board Approves Purchase of Satellite Lifter System for Parks Division
The village board considered and approved the purchase of a six-yard satellite lifter system for the parks division. This system will be an attachment to pickup trucks and is intended to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of injury for staff who currently manually lift garbage totes. Two manufacturers were considered, and Perkins Manufacturing was chosen due to its lower cost and local presence for service and parts. The item was moved for approval by Trustee Babia and seconded by Trustee Chapman.
