City Council Approves Amendments to Human Rights Ordinance

This ordinance was sponsored by Councilman Luke Lando.
Hazel Park Art Fair Scheduled for August; Volunteer Applications Opening Soon
The 14th annual Hazel Park Art Fair is scheduled for August 22nd and 23rd at Greenacres Park. While artist applications are closed, the event will soon open applications for volunteers. The event is organized by the Hazel Park Arts Council and sponsored by Oakland County. Volunteer hours can be fulfilled for school, probation, or work requirements. The fair is organized by an official 501c3 organization.
Code Department Tackles Weeds and Beautifies 10 Mile Corridor
The City Attorney reminded residents about the ongoing grass and weeds season and the complaints received from neighbors. They encouraged residents to speak with their neighbors first to resolve issues but also affirmed that the Code Department is available to take complaints and work with DPW on work orders. Additionally, the City Attorney noted the upcoming arrival of 10 Mile planters this week or next, highlighting the Code Department's three-year effort to clean up the 10 Mile corridor, which included improvements to sidewalks, roads, businesses, and the addition of planters, a project that has made the area significantly cleaner and is a source of pride.
Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony Announced for June 19th
A Juneteenth flag raising ceremony will take place on Friday, June 19th, at noon outside City Hall. The flag will be displayed for the Juneteenth weekend. The event is intended to commemorate Juneteenth and celebrate freedom.
