Greensburg Police Department Seeks Additional Funding for New Vehicle Outfitting

Chief McNeely discussed the police department's vehicle needs, explaining that due to faster-than-anticipated staffing and unexpected equipment costs, additional funding is needed to fully outfit a 2026 Dodge Durango. The Durango was chosen over the standard Ford Explorer PPU due to a lower cost. This purchase will reduce the number of vehicles needed in the 2027 budget, as they were planning to buy four vehicles next year and this purchase allows them to stick to three. The council indicated support for the request, which is estimated to be just under $9,000, allowing equipment to be ordered promptly due to long lead times.

The Tax Abatement Review Committee recommended a three-year phased-in tax abatement. Discussions covered the impact of recent legislative changes (Senate Bill 1) on business personal property tax and the need to update tax abatement guidelines. The council approved Resolution 2026-13 for the incentive agreement, granting a three-year abatement. Additionally, the council addressed the annual CF1 tax reporting, approving extensions for abatements 2024-06 and 2024-14, and terminating abatement 2020-19 due to non-compliance with job creation and operational agreements.
