These loans are structured as second mortgages, with principal repayment deferred until a significant transition like refinancing or selling the home. Eligibility is based on household income, with limits up to $116,000 for a family of three and up to $134,000 for larger families. Applications are available at the Housing Authority located at Pleasant View Apartments.
Tourism Bureau Contract Extended for Six Months; Lodging Tax Revenue Increases
The council approved a six-month extension to the Tourism Bureau contract with the Chamber. The finance committee recommended approval, noting a 5% year-over-year increase in lodging tax revenues from 2024 to 2025. The contract extension requires a correction on page four, item eight, regarding the annual rate of $75,961 to reflect a six-month term, as payments are distributed monthly. Alderwoman Ubot abstained from the vote due to potential conflict of interest as the chamber is the fiscal agent for fireworks. The motion carried.

The committee reviewed this and recommended approval of the resolution to set the public hearing. The motion to adopt the resolution carried.
Request to Remove Street Sign Near Minnesota Ave & Reynolds Alley Denied
The council denied a request to remove a street sign near Minnesota Avenue and Reynolds Alley. The public works committee reviewed the request and decided to deny it, maintaining the existing signage. This decision was based on the fact that part of the alley is still platted as Reynolds Street, albeit a narrow 16-foot section, and is considered a street. The adjacent property owner had requested the removal of the sign.
