Fusion Bar and Grill Hearing Scheduled; Musket Firing Approved for Juneteenth Event
The Select Board scheduled a compliance failure hearing for Fusion Bar and Grill (ORCID 7) for Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, related to potential violations. The board also discussed the Juneteenth event's request for permission to fire muskets on the Town Green, which was approved after clarifying the sound would be muffled and brief. Sawmill Park Pollinator Pathway Signage Approved by Dedham Select Board
The Select Board approved signage for the Sawmill Park pollinator pathway project. Meredith Comfrey, the conservation agent, presented two types of signs: a large educational sign at the pathway's entrance and eight small post-and-panel plant label signs to be placed along the path. The project is funded by a grant, and the signage is the final expenditure. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for mid-to-late summer.
Dedham Website Transition, Splash Pad Opening, and 'Campus at 128' Project Update Scheduled
The town is transitioning its website to a new URL without a hyphen on June 30th at noon, which is expected to streamline access and match email addresses. A grand opening for the new splash pad at Condon Park, funded by ARPA, is scheduled for June 22nd at 5 p.m., featuring a unique, 'wet event' celebration. The Planning Board will meet on June 24th to receive an update on the 'Campus at 128' project, also known as the prospective development at 128, which is currently undergoing the MEPA process.
Dedham Sustainability Committee Updates Board on Waste Reduction, Energy Savings, and Climate Initiatives
The Sustainability Advisory Committee provided an update on their focus areas: waste reduction, decarbonization and energy savings, and communication. Key initiatives include conceptualizing a 'Skip the Stuff' pilot program with Dedham Square Circle to reduce restaurant takeout waste, promoting the town's compost bin program, and exploring the MassSave EBCX program for building energy efficiency. The committee is also working towards qualifying for the Massachusetts Climate Leader Communities Program by adopting an EV-first policy and accepting the municipal decarbonization roadmap. They are also reviewing the 2020 Climate Action Resiliency Plan to identify areas for renewed focus.
Dedham Select Board Honors Student Athlete Ryan Doyle for State Championship Win
Ryan Doyle, a junior at Catholic Memorial, was recognized with a certificate of achievement for his outstanding athletic accomplishments, including winning the Division I state championship as a pitcher for the baseball team. The board acknowledged his dedication, teamwork, and character, referencing a photo from his Little League days. Doyle spoke about his team's journey to the championship, emphasizing their belief in themselves.
