Cooper City Commission Revokes Renaissance Charter School's Permits Over Violations

The Cooper City Commission held a quasi-judicial hearing regarding alleged violations of the conditional use permit (CU9-1-09) for the Renaissance Charter School located at 2800 North Palm Avenue. The alleged violations pertained to the failure to fund a school resource officer (SRO), exceeding the student enrollment cap of 1200 students, and adverse traffic impacts. After hearing testimony from the city's special counsel, David Di Pietro, the finance director Tina Grant, the community development director Jason Chockley, and Sergeant Mark Warsaw from the Broward Sheriff's Office, the commission found the school in violation of all three conditions. Consequently, the commission voted to revoke the school's conditional use permit and its certificate of occupancy, effective August 1st, 2026, citing material and dangerous violations.
