Water Sector Projects Awarded; Exchange Agreement Formalized

The council approved the lowest responsive bids for two significant projects: the generator installation for water sector projects and the 12-inch water line extension along Nar Gerard Road. Henry Electrical Services was awarded the generator installation contract for $384,500. LA Construction was the low bidder for the water line extension, coming in under budget. The council also approved an ordinance authorizing the execution of an act of exchange with Komo Planting, which was previously approved by resolution but is now in ordinance format as required by statute for exchanges.

Main Street Improvements Substantially Complete; Land Use Changes Considered

The council passed a resolution declaring the Brussard Main Street Improvements phase 2A and 2B as substantially complete. The project, spanning from Clara Street to Washington Street, had a substantial completion inspection on May 14th, with minor punch list items that do not impact safety or functionality. Additionally, an ordinance was introduced to deannex a portion of a lot along North Eola Road, currently split between the city and Lafayette Parish, to bring the entire lot within the parish jurisdiction. The council also approved two resolutions accepting acts of dedication for roads and servitudes within developments by Southern Lafayette Management Group CDL-LLC and RR Company of America LLC, pending legal review and inspections.
