Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan Adopted, Sidewalk Section Added

The council reviewed a resolution adopting a revised and extended six-year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for 2027-2032 (Resolution 2026-23). During discussion, a motion was made and seconded to amend the plan to include a section of sidewalk along Fuller from East Wishkah to East Market. The original request, as amended, was then approved.

Interlocal Agreement for Animal Boarding Approved with McCleary

The council considered an interlocal agreement with the city of McCleary for the temporary boarding of seized and impounded animals. A revision was proposed and accepted to clarify that the agreement is for when a McCleary police officer needs to board a dog or cat. The revised agreement was then approved.

Volunteer Hours Exceed $5,000; Mass Notification System Launched; Fire Suppression Contract Amended

The police department reported that volunteers contributed 146.5 hours in May, valued at over $5,000 based on the national volunteer rate. The fire department has implemented a mass notification system, which is now advertised and will be presented at the next council meeting on June 24th. A request was made to amend the current contract for fire suppression services between the city and the Washington State Department of Corrections, which was approved.

Ordinance Proposed to Expand Rate Remission to Disabled Citizens

The council is considering an ordinance to amend the municipal code regarding low-income senior citizen rate remission to include low-income disabled citizens. This change was a request from the Utility Rate Advisory Committee. The first reading of this ordinance (Bill 26-10) was accepted.
