City Council Adopts FY 2026-2027 Budget

Retired Judge Figueroa Appointed On-Call Assistant City Magistrate

This position is necessary because the new magistrate, formerly the city prosecutor, has a conflict of interest with cases she previously handled. City to Apply for USDA Grant to Develop 5-Year Economic Development Plan
The City Council authorized the submission of an application to the USDA Rural Business Development Grant program to fund the development of a 5-year economic development strategic plan. The plan will analyze market conditions, community priorities, and long-term goals, providing a roadmap for business attraction, retention, workforce development, entrepreneurship, downtown revitalization, and quality of life initiatives. The department is seeking $60,000 from USDA and requesting an allocation of $40,000 to cover the total proposed amount, to be budgeted in fiscal year 2028.
Water Main Materials Approved for Distribution System Improvements
The City Council approved the procurement of water main materials, supplies, and fittings for water distribution system improvements. This includes extending water services to vacant parcels along Fourth Avenue and Winding Fourth Avenue for future development, and creating a connected waterline loop east of 24th Avenue to improve circulation and water quality. The materials will be purchased through a co-op agreement (Sourcewell) and a quote process. A budget transfer was also approved to cover costs.
