Board of Commissioners Meeting - June 24, 2026
Published: Jun 24, 2026
Amended Site Agreement Approved for Black Rock Park Tower Site
The board approved the amended site agreement with SDC for a tower site at Black Rock Park. The new terms include a 10-year lease retroactive to October 13, 2025, with a five-year renewal option. Rent is set at $4,500 per month with a 3.5% annual increase. Additionally, SDC will pay 50% of future sublease rent or $1,500 (whichever is greater), and a $20,000 signing bonus is due within 60 days of execution.
May Report Shows 1,289 Tons of Trash, 143 Tons of Recycling Collected
The report on trash and recycling collected in May indicates 1,289.54 tons of trash were collected at a monthly disposal cost of $121,995.24. Recycling collected was 143.16 tons, with a disposal cost of $7,858.02. Additionally, six TVs were collected for television monitoring.
Concerns Raised Over Ambulance Service Costs and External Calls
The board discussed the May ambulance report, noting that while Narbuth Ambulance responded to 357 calls, only 168 were within Ridley Township. A significant portion (43%) of calls were for external municipalities that do not provide their own Advanced Life Support (ALS) services and do not reimburse the township for costs borne by Ridley Township residents' tax dollars. This situation delays response times for local residents and incurs substantial costs, with approximately $240,000 of the $650,000 annual ambulance budget being spent on these non-reimbursing towns.
Township Approves Funding for Traffic Signal and Intersection Improvements
The board approved funding for traffic planning and design improvements. This includes $850 for mid-block signal improvements, $4,360 for Greenland Ghost Signal upgrades, and $40,361.14 for signal collected incorporated improvements at Morton Avenue and Michigan Avenue.
May Public Safety Report: Police Activity and Traffic Maintenance Updates
During May, the police department handled 1,239 calls for service, issued 38 traffic citations, and 19 parking tickets. The traffic maintenance department performed preventative maintenance on traffic signals at 11 intersections, repaired/replaced 18 traffic signs, and installed/repaired 19 home town era batteries. The report also commended Corporal Leo Doyle for receiving the FEMIS and John J. Duffy Professional Service Awards.
