During the board meeting, a question was raised regarding electrical permit fees, specifically for 'mobile home underground entrance.' It was clarified that this fee is incurred by the individual mobile home owner, not the park owner, if they require such service.
Utility Commission Reports Strong Finances, Approves Modest Water Rate Increase
The Utility Commission met on June 15th and received a clean audit opinion from Baker Tilly, indicating a strong financial position. The electric crew handled repairs from vehicle accidents and performed tests and maintenance. The water department conducted meter testing and maintenance. The commission also approved a 3% water rate increase, amounting to about 44 cents per residential customer, effective August 25th, keeping rates among the lowest in the state. Applications are being accepted for a fiber line worker.
Plan Commission Approves Home Business Permit, Reviews Building Use
The Plan Commission authorized a conditional use permit for a home-based laser engraving business and reviewed a conditional use permit for the former Seats building (Columbia Park building). They also addressed a junk violation with a homeowner.

The parade on Main Street was praised for its nostalgic value and community engagement, with downtown businesses reportedly becoming more receptive to the event's impact. Upcoming events include the United Fund's Bash and Dash on Friday and the July 4th Freedom Fest, featuring music, face painting, a cornhole tournament, vendors, food trucks, and a fireworks show planned to be as good as or better than previous years, with rain dates set for July 5th. The Mayor also mentioned the 'Bash and Dash' event on Friday with Danny Goffert, aiming to sell over 2,500 bras, building on last year's success of selling 2,300.
