City Council Reviews Financial Report, Discusses Budget
The council reviewed the financial report for the current period, noting a decrease in sales tax collections compared to the previous year, though year-to-date collections remain slightly up. Occupational licenses are also down year-over-year, but year-to-date collections are up. The council also discussed the upcoming 2026-2027 budget following a finance committee meeting.
Annexation Discussion Added to Agenda, Will Proceed to Zoning
The council considered adding item 25 to the agenda, which involves annexation language related to a physical address, subject to the sale of the land. This matter will proceed to zoning for review and is expected to be addressed in the July meeting, not the June 30th special meeting, as it requires zoning board review.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Road Conditions, Sewer Issues, and Speeding
A resident expressed concerns about the condition of roads and bridges, specifically mentioning a hump where concrete meets asphalt on Highway 107 and issues with the bridges causing vibrations from heavy trucks. Concerns were also raised about high speeds and lack of police enforcement on roads leaving Pineville. Additionally, multiple residents voiced significant complaints about sewer issues, including smell, yard flooding, and potential gas leaks from manholes, especially after heavy rain. A broken line releasing black, foul-smelling liquid into a creek was also reported.
Property at 387 Carolyn Street Condemned
The council addressed the condemnation hearing for 387 Carolyn Street, owned by Leroy Blade. The structure is severely dilapidated and considered a dangerous attractive nuisance. The recommendation was to condemn the property and allow the owner 60 days for voluntary demolition.
