Evergreen Drive Right-of-Way Abandoned for Grove Development
The City Council considered an ordinance to abandon and vacate Evergreen Drive, a public street right-of-way and easement in the Brownwood Terrace subdivision, totaling approximately 1.416 acres and 0.982 acres. The right-of-way is no longer needed for public purposes and is part of the Grove development project, where the developer requested its abandonment. The ordinance addresses the section west of Spruce Drive.
City Approves 5-Year Lease for Replacement Vacuum Truck
The City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a 5-year lease agreement with Kim Law Equipment and Supply for a replacement vacuum truck, with financing through Kansas State Bank. The annual payments will be $111,653.37, totaling $558,211 over the lease term. This represents a 55% increase over the 2021 lease. The truck is essential for wastewater removal for system repairs and maintenance. The first payment is due late in the current year, requiring funding in the FY '27 operating budget.

The City Council considered awarding a contract to Paragon Multifamily Roofing for the replacement of the Civic Council Chambers roof, estimated at $52,599, through the TIPS USA purchasing cooperative. Funding for this repair would come from the remaining $60,000 in the general improvements category, originally allocated for a boat ramp pavilion which was completed under budget. The council decided to table this item indefinitely.
Don King Appointed to Board of Adjustment
The City Council considered appointing Don King to the Board of Adjustment for a term expiring December 31st, 2027. The vacancy arose due to the passing of Betty in April. King was the sole applicant for the position after applications were accepted for several months. He is in attendance.
