Northampton Township Senior Center Announces July Activities Including Dance Classes and Themed Events
The Northampton Township Senior Center is experiencing a surge in new members and continues to offer a variety of engaging activities. In July, a 'Moving and Grooving' dance class, 'Love to Dance,' will start every Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. A 'Senior Sunset Luau' is planned for July 15th at the Northampton Pool, costing $20 and including an aqua fit demo, evening swim, food, and refreshments. An 'Evening at Roma' event featuring Italian dinner and music is scheduled for July 30th, also costing $20. The center is offering tours for prospective members.
Northampton Township Approves Cape Seal Road Improvement Project for Enhanced Pavement Durability
The township is implementing a Cape Seal road improvement project as part of its 2026 road program to maintain approximately 10 miles of roadways annually. This method involves a chip seal followed by a slurry seal, chosen over the typical microsurfacing due to the current condition of the proposed roadways, which exhibit greater surface distress. The Cape Seal treatment is expected to provide improved surface durability and crack sealing, extending pavement life on moderately deteriorated roads. The bid was awarded to Asphalt Paving Solutions LLC of Center Valley, PA, for approximately 68,060 square yards of Cape Seal at $6.79 per square yard, totaling $4,621,274.00 (calculated from square yards and price per square yard). The Public Works Department recommended this approach for cost-effective asset management and pavement life extension.
Northampton Township to Host Veteran Suicide Awareness Flag Display
The Veterans Advisory Commission (VAC) is organizing a veteran suicide awareness flag display on June 30th at the township building. The display will feature over 600 American flags, each representing a veteran lost to suicide in the U.S. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face and highlight available support resources. The VAC hopes to make this an annual event to promote mental health and suicide prevention among veterans. Volunteers are needed for the installation and removal of the flags, which will be displayed for 30 days. Additionally, the VAC is working to bring attention to this issue in other municipalities.
