Newburgh Council Initiates De-annexation Process for Flood-Prone Land; Extends Street Seats Program
The City Council considered a resolution to initiate the de-annexation of approximately 28.5 acres of land from the city limits. The land, located on both sides of the bypass and largely within a special flood hazard area, was annexed in 2006 as part of a larger 98-acre annexation. The property owners are requesting removal due to the difficulty of development. The council adopted Resolution 2026-4032 to initiate the process and proceeded with a legislative hearing and adopted Order 2026-0047, setting a final hearing for July 20th to consider the withdrawal.
