City Council Reviews RFQ for Third-Party Ambulance Service Amidst Rising EMS Demand
The City of Moore Fire Department presented an overview of a recent Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a third-party ambulance service. The presentation highlighted the increasing EMS call volume, current operational framework, and findings from the RFQ process. Key findings emphasized strong fire and EMS integration, the importance of quality clinical improvement, and the need for reliable ALS ambulance availability during peak demand and surge times. The RFQ process aimed to evaluate market capabilities, validate industry standards, and ensure service expectations align with community needs. The city currently contracts with Norman Regional Imstat Ambulance, which provides two ambulances, but has experienced challenges with staffing and resource availability, leading to reliance on mutual aid. The RFQ engaged 11 agencies within Oklahoma and others nationwide. Future considerations may include additional ambulance units to absorb rising call volumes and ensure resilience.
