Medina to Host Extensive America 250 Celebration July 3rd-5th
The mayor announced upcoming July 3rd, 4th, and 5th celebrations for America 250, including fireworks on July 3rd at Medina High School, various events on July 4th like races, a farmers market, and a parade, and a car show on July 5th. These events are supported by multiple townships and organizations.
Fire Department Seeks Association Membership for Enhanced Services
The Fire Department is seeking approval for a membership in an association that will provide benefits such as plan reviews and training, with the association membership being very affordable. This membership is intended to assist the inspection fire marshal and their staff.
Next Step Up Shelter Continues to Serve Community, Housing Authority Updates on Properties
Tom O'Connell provided an update on the Next Step Up Shelter, Medina County's first emergency homeless shelter. Since opening in February 2025, it has served 304 people, with over 50% from the city of Medina. The shelter accommodates pets, has helped 53 households exit into permanent housing, and averages a 33-day length of stay. The MMHA is also working on new office locations and renovations for two affordable housing properties, Lafayette and Northview Manor.
Community Invited to Attend July 4th Events at Old Town Graveyard
Councilmember Isabella highlighted the upcoming July 4th celebrations and encouraged attendance at events at Old Town Graveyard and behind St. Paul's Church, organized by the Friends of the Cemetery. These events will feature activities, speakers, and music throughout the day.
U.S. 42 Lafayette Road Resurfacing Project Underway
The U.S. 42 Lafayette Road resurfacing project has begun. The project includes resurfacing from north of Homestead to Lafayette and intersection improvements at several points along the corridor, with initial work starting at Court & East Union and Court & Homestead.
