Police Department Maintains Age 41 Maximum for New Appointments

Ordinance 144-26 amends Section 242 of the codified ordinances for the police division. Similar to the fire department, original appointment requires individuals to be at least 21 years old and before their 41st birthday. While state law does not limit police officers' age, the city administration and Civil Service agreed to maintain the 41-year-old maximum age to ensure consistency with the fire department. The ordinance passed with an emergency clause, as current lists are in place.
