City Council Demonstrates New Online Volunteer Form for Boards and Commissions

Council member McCoy sponsored a demonstration of the city's online volunteer interest form for boards, commissions, and committees, presented by Brian Harvey. The demonstration covered three methods for submission: a web form via the city's website, a printable form, and a link through the city's Facebook page. Harvey explained the process of filling out the web form, including required fields and fail-safes, and confirmed that submissions trigger email notifications to the mayor and city clerk. He also addressed the printable form and instructions for delivery. Discussions included the possibility of adding a consent to police record checkbox to the online form and ensuring default email confirmation for submissions. The city clerk's office will explore implementing a system for stamped receipt confirmation for paper submissions.

Council Grants 90-Day Extension for Condemned Property After Discussion on Notice Delivery

Robert Bamberg requested a 90-day extension to address condemnation issues at his property located at 200 Overland Trail. He explained that he was unaware of the prior condemnation ordinance due to not receiving notices, having only received a certified letter from Mayor Elmore. Bamberg is in the process of selling the property and requires the extension to allow the potential buyer to undertake remediation. Supervisor Marissa Barger presented evidence of multiple notices served to the property since 2023, including certified letters, regular mail, and orange notices posted on the property, contradicting Bamberg's claim of no prior contact beyond 2023. Despite council concerns about the handling of notices and a previous vote against extension, a motion was made and passed to grant Bamberg a 90-day extension to work with code enforcement and present a plan of action, contingent on him providing written intent and updates.
