City Approves Payments for Zoo Electrical Work, Indirect Cost Proposals, and Police Department Services
The Council ratified an invoice for $408.16 to Crawford Electric Supply Company, LLC, for electrical work at the Jackson Zoo. This was presented as an emergency item due to the statute of limitations. Separately, the Council approved a master services agreement with MGT Impact Solutions LLC for preparing indirect cost rate proposals for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. CFO Jillian Caldwell explained this allows the city to recoup overhead costs associated with federal grants. The Council also ratified payment for locksmith services ($315) to Mississippi Safe and Lock Inc. for the Jackson Police Department Real-Time Command Center and approved payment ($425.59) to Wix ICE Machine Service and Sale Inc. for ICE machine repair at the Jackson Police Training Academy.
Former State Representative William Bo Brown and CAO Peter Tableson Honored as Fathers of the Year
The Council recognized William Bo Brown, a former Mississippi State Representative and Father of the Year. Councilman Kenneth I. Stokes presented the honor, highlighting Brown's service to the community, his role as a former athlete, and his dedication to the Jackson Advocate newspaper. Alice Tearsdale and Rob Jay shared their memories of Bo Brown, emphasizing his sincerity, passion for Jackson, and his contributions to sports journalism and community engagement. Councilman Stokes also presented an award to Attorney Peter Tableson, CAO, recognizing him as Father of the Year for his knowledge, integrity, and commitment to God and family. Tableson, a former county supervisor, was praised for his legal acumen and integrity. Both Brown and Tableson were recognized for their family values.
