City Commission Approves Preliminary Budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027

The City Commission approved the preliminary budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027. The budget includes $108.8 million in revenue and $123.2 million in expenses. Key priorities aligned with the Commission's strategic goals, including being an employer of choice, improving city infrastructure, service delivery, and holistic development. Personnel costs represent a significant portion of expenses due to proposed cost-of-living adjustments and step increases. The budget also addresses transfers to various funds, including affordable housing, civic center operations, transit, golf, and community arts programs. The Commission was urged to prioritize core services and consider the sustainability of certain operations, such as the Muni's Restaurant. Next steps include finalizing certified values, setting mill levies, and adopting the final budget in August.
