Resident Questions Parks Department on Boat House Park Closure and Communication

Ed Sadderstead raised several points regarding the closure of Boat House Park and creek access due to an ongoing water project. He questioned the reopening timeline, noting a discrepancy between the parks and recreation website and information received privately, and asked for confirmation of the July 18th week reopening. Sadderstead also questioned why scheduling information isn't public, why comments were limited on social media posts about the topic, and why the project began in June, the busiest time for park usage. He inquired about alternative access for citizens during the shutdown.

Township Reports Highlight Community Events, Park Maintenance, and Local Farmers Markets

Miss Ballard provided an update, thanking staff for recent trimming and maintenance along medians at Walton Springs Hills and for the new sidewalk/curb cuts near Wells Fargo as part of the Ridge Underpass project. Mr. Myers highlighted the township's farmers markets, noting one on Thursdays (2:30-6:30 PM) off Bullfrog at the farmhouse at Anglewood, and another on Saturdays (9:30 AM-1:30 PM) downtown at Chocolate Town Square, encouraging support for local farmers. Allison from the library announced upcoming events: closure on July 4th, Dino Tales on July 12th (next Tuesday), and a presentation on Deborah Samson for America's 250th on July 7th at 2 PM. She also mentioned a program on immigration rights this Saturday. Amy Walker from Parks and Recreation invited the community to celebrate America's 250th on July 3rd with red, white, and blue attire, mentioning Farm Show milkshakes for purchase and patriotic cups for the first 250 patrons on July 4th. She also announced a drive-in movie for Zootopia 2 on Friday, July 10th, at Shank Park around 8:00 PM, with concessions available. Mr. Emer from HRG added that sidewalk money collected would be used for reconstruction along Wells Fargo Bank, capitalizing on the contractor already being present for potential savings.

Resident Critiques Board Chair's Comments on Clifton Heights Development

A resident, Glenn Foster, expressed concerns during the public comment session regarding the proposed Clifton Heights apartment development and comments made by Board Chair Mr. Zamura. Foster criticized Zamura's suggestion to explore purchasing additional properties to connect Clifton Heights Road to Locust Street, arguing it pandered to specific residents and lacked basis, especially considering Joanne Avenue's narrow width and lack of sidewalks. Foster urged for a fair and impartial process, including a comprehensive traffic study of all alternatives (Dura Drive extension, Locust Street extension, Clifton Heights Road extension) to determine the safest option.
